Recently, New York State passed the "Act Prohibiting PFAS and Toxic Chemicals in Feminine Hygiene Products." This law aims to protect women from the potential harm of toxic chemicals in feminine hygiene products and applies to all types of feminine hygiene products sold in New York State.
This legislation makes New York State the latest to join California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maine, Minnesota, and Rhode Island in restricting the use of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in feminine hygiene products. However, New York State goes further, expanding the scope of regulation to include various harmful chemicals such as parabens, heavy metals (e.g., lead, mercury), and carcinogens (e.g., formaldehyde).
